Percussivometers explores combination of acoustic percussion sounds with motion-controlled sound transformations. The piece transitions between number of sections of varied character, at times focusing on individual instruments’ timbre, at times traversing dense clouds of sounds. Acoustic instruments are extended with live electronics processing, controlled by player’s movement captured by accelerometers attached to their hands. This kind of interaction provides organic integration of playing the instrument and influencing the computer-generated part at the same time. The piece is dedicated to Andrew Angell, for whom it was written.
